Veronica Jeans, Owner & Namibian

Every bottle of our Marula oil carries forward her belief: that taking care of yourself isn't vanity—it's preparation for the dreams you're brave enough to chase. This is my way of giving back to my birth country and honoring the women who taught me that true beauty comes from resilience, authenticity, and lifting others as you rise.

"ELEGANCE BORN FROM RESILIENCE"

My story begins with my grandmother—a woman who lost everything in the 1930s Depression but never lost her elegance. When she and my grandfather had to give up their farm and move to the city where there was no work, she didn't despair. She put on her lipstick, rolled up her sleeves, and started selling homemade pies to factory workers.

What followed was pure entrepreneurial magic: pies became custom suits sold door-to-door, suits became redesigned dresses and hats, and eventually, she opened a thriving boutique. Her customers adored her impeccable craftsmanship and her unwavering belief that elegance wasn't a luxury—it was a necessity.

But here's what made her legendary: even when times were hardest, her nails were perfectly manicured, her makeup flawless, her style impeccable. "Darling," she'd tell me years later, "how you present yourself is how you present your dreams."

When family in Namibia called, asking them to manage a general store in the small town of Okahandja, they packed up their successful city life without hesitation. In what was then German South West Africa, they thrived once again—because resilience and elegance were their superpowers.

Growing up under this German beauty culture influence, I learned my grandmother's three sacred beauty rules at age 12:

  1. Never touch your face with dirty fingers
  2. Wash your face every single night
  3. Never forget your moisturizer and toner

That witch hazel toner she taught me to use? I still use it today. Some wisdom is timeless.

Today, when I empower over 2,000 women in Namibia through Kalahari Gold, I'm not just building a business—I'm continuing my grandmother's legacy.

She taught me that women with determination, elegance, and the right beauty routine can overcome anything.

How It All Started

The Team Behind Kalahari Gold

Veronica was approached by her fellow Namibians, Mossie Oosthuizen and Matt Ludick, who own and operate African Natural Oils, to distribute Marula oil internationally.

She recruited her friend, ZB who is a  molecular biologist and already in the rejuvenation research field, to join her in their new venture.

Knowing that the best way to succeed in the skincare business is to have products scientifically proven, her partnership with ZB was a fabulous idea.

After ZB tested the Marula oil samples from African Natural Oils, he called it the Gold Standard of Marula oil as  they knew they were getting an A grade products.

Our Vision

Through our dedication to ethical sourcing and promoting economic growth, we aim to inspire and empower women everywhere, one drop of Marula oil at a time.

ABOUT MARULA OIL*

For more than a century, the marula fruit has been traditionally harvested by local communities living in the north-central parts of Namibia, where the marula tree is an abundant natural resource.

Although the fruit looks more like a food source than a high-value ingredient for overseas cosmetic products, the marula’s real secret is locked away inside it. The key to opening this secret is rooted deep within African tradition.

For generations, women in the Oshana, Ohangwena, Omusati, and Oshikoto regions of north-central Namibia have been using marula to provide for their families.

DID YOU KNOW?

The marula kernels are only extracted after the beer is made.

Sourced from Namibia

Marula oil, sourced from Namibia, is obtained through the eco-friendly harvesting and processing of kernels from wild Marula trees in the region. Local communities participate in the hand-crushing of these nuts, contributing to the preservation of their natural environment.

The production process involves over 8,000 women, empowering them and fostering economic growth within their communities.

Provide the highest grade of Namibian Marula Oil

With Africa Natural Oils, we take pride in being one of the two Marula oil exporters from Namibia, providing the highest grade of Namibian Marula Oil available in the market. We understand the importance of maintaining the purity and integrity of our oil, which is why we have strict quality control measures in place. Our oil is cold-pressed and filtered of all impurities, ensuring it is pure and retains its essential fatty acids' benefits. Unlike most other producers, we never use a method that heats the oil, which can damage its effectiveness.

The highest quality with lab analysis

To ensure our Marula oil is of the highest quality, we send it to a lab for analysis, checking that the acid and peroxide values are below cosmetic standards. We also use only high-pressure water to clean our equipment, avoiding harsh chemicals that can degrade the oil's effectiveness. We clean our stills every day and do not run them continuously to avoid any contamination.
